I have to admit that I have only had ranch dressing form a bottle, and even that only a few times. But my niece loves it, and I thought it would be great to have a homemade version. If you want to use it as a salad dessing, simply add more buttermilk until it reaches the desired consistency. This, a thicker version serves as a great chicken wing dip.
Ingredients for the Ranch Dip Recipe:
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup finely diced or grated red onion
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped celery leaves
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped fresh chives
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 1 tsp finely grated lemon zest
- Kosher salt and finely ground black pepper to taste
Preparation:
- Place all the ingredients in a medium-size mixing bowl and stir until well combined.
- Transfer to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving and up to 8 hrs.
Makes 1 1/2 cup
